Spa-Francorchamps GP Circuit
Stavelot, Liège, Belgium
Spa-Francorchamps' original 14.100 km public-road circuit hosted the Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix, one of the few major events still held there by 1978, though its sustained, extreme speeds made both car and motorcycle fields wary of racing there. In 1979 the track was shortened to a 6.947 km layout for safety; the circuit is now 7.004 km. It lies in the Belgian Ardennes. Formula One first held a Grand Prix at Spa in 1925.
