Autodrome de Linas-Montlhery
Montlhery, Essonne, France
Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry, opened in 1924 south of Paris, was designed by René Jamin as a 2.548km banked oval, with a road circuit added in 1925. It hosted the Grand Prix de France motorcycle races in 1925, 1931, 1935 and 1937, and the Bol d'Or 24-hour endurance race intermittently from 1937 to 1970. British marques dominated from 1931 to 1959, before Honda scored the first Japanese win in 1969. Gustave Lefèvre holds a record seven Bol d'Or victories, and in 1961 a Velocette Venom Clubman set a 500cc 24-hour speed record that still stands.
