Circuit Paul Armagnac, known as Circuit de Nogaro, opened on 3 October 1960 as France's first purpose-built race circuit. The flat, 3.636 km layout is raced clockwise and features two long straights linked by slow corners, including the start-finish straight named for Nogaro-born motorcycle constructor Claude Fior. It hosted the French motorcycle Grand Prix in 1978 and 1982, plus the Sidecar World Championship in 1978; the 1982 Grand Prix saw a rider and team boycott over safety concerns, after which the series left permanently. The French Superbike Championship races here each May.
