Nurburgring GP-Strecke
Nurburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
The Nürburgring GP-Strecke opened on 12 May 1984, built over two years in place of the old start-finish straight and Südschleife to meet stricter safety standards after Niki Lauda's 1976 Nordschleife crash. At the opening event, motorcycles that had previously raced the Nordschleife were paraded around the new layout, though the source records no motorcycle racing series held there. The circuit first hosted Formula One's European Grand Prix in October 1984.
