Fuji Speedway South Course
Oyama, Shizuoka, Japan
Fuji Speedway lies in the foothills of Mount Fuji and opened as a road course in January 1966, after site conditions ruled out the original superspeedway plan; consultant Stirling Moss helped shape the road-course layout. The circuit hosted the Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix as the finale of the FIM Road Racing World Championship in 1966 and 1967. The 1966 race ran on the full course with its steep banking, which kept Honda's works team away on safety grounds; in 1967 the race moved to a shortened 4.3 km layout without the banked section. Fuji also held Formula One's first Japanese Grand Prix in 1976.
