Mobility Resort Motegi, built in 1997 by Honda and formerly named Twin Ring Motegi, features a 4.801 km road course laid out in a stop-start, straight-into-hairpin style. The track is largely flat, with only a slight elevation rise toward its hairpin turn. It has hosted Grand Prix motorcycle racing since 2000, first as the Pacific motorcycle Grand Prix (2000-2003) and then as the Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix from 2004 onward as a MotoGP round. It also holds MFJ Superbikes rounds, the Asia Road Racing Championship, and the FIM Trials World Championship on a dedicated outdoor trials course.
