Suzuka West is one of five configurations at the Suzuka International Racing Course, designed in 1962 by John "Hans" Hugenholtz for Honda. It uses the western portion of the full circuit, including the crossover bridge carrying the back straight over the front section. A separate "Suzuka west motorcycle" variant exists alongside the car layout, divided by the chicane near the hairpin. The full Suzuka circuit hosted the Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix from 1987 to 1998 and again from 2000 to 2003, ending after Daijiro Kato's fatal 2003 crash; MotoGP has not returned since.
