Built on marshland in 1968, Anderstorp Raceway is a 4.025 km (2.501 mi) circuit whose Flight Straight doubles as an aircraft runway, with several banked corners and a pit lane positioned halfway around the lap. It hosted the Swedish motorcycle Grand Prix from 1971 to 1977 and 1981 to 1990, the Sidecar World Championship in 1981-1990, 1993 and 1997, and the Superbike World Championship in 1991 and 1993. A 1993 FIM 24-hour endurance race was marred by a thunderstorm and led to the circuit's bankruptcy. Formula One first raced here in 1973.
