Donington Park's Short (National) layout is the 3,149-metre configuration used for most non-Grand Prix meetings, created after the 1985 Melbourne Loop extension lengthened the full circuit for motorcycle racing. Donington's first race, in 1931, was for motorcycles, and postwar racing resumed with a motorcycle meeting on 15 May 1977. The full Grand Prix layout hosted Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1987 to 2009 and has since been a regular venue for the Superbike World Championship and British Superbike Championship. Donington also hosted a Formula One race in 1993.
