Kirkistown Motor Racing Circuit opened in 1953 on the former RAF Kirkistown airfield in County Down, laid out clockwise using sections of the base's runway and perimeter roads under the ownership of the 500 Motor Racing Club of Ireland. The layout features four main corners and a 1,000 yd main straight, with a chicane added in the 1970s to slow entry into the Maguires Hairpin. Now measuring 1.512 mi (2.433 km), it is Northern Ireland's only MSA-licensed permanent race track and hosts motorcycle and supermoto racing alongside karting, rallying and rallycross events.
