Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
Opened in 1909 under Carl Fisher's direction, Indianapolis Motor Speedway's first motorsport event was a motorcycle race meeting sanctioned by the Federation of American Motorcyclists, halted early over concerns about the track surface. Its 4.192 km FIA Grade One infield road course, completed in 2000 using the main stretch and the southwest turn, was modified in 2008 and 2014 to accommodate motorcycle racing and improve competition, hosting MotoGP from 2008 to 2015. Formula One's United States Grand Prix debuted here in 2000.
